*This is not an AD. This is just my experience with Zenni Optical.*
Backstory
So, the hardest thing for me as an adult is self-care on the micro and macro scale. Zenni Optical has changed a large aspect of my life in such a small way. My optical journey actually started at the young age of 6 and has been a battle that Stan Lee would have had his hands full with. To make a long story short, through no miraculous accident I developed poor eyesight quickly. I had surgery and boom, legally blind.
To give you an idea, my current glasses prescription stands at a +9 left eye & +11 right. That is without the additional 2 points to add the ability to read. *insert sarcastic tone* Yes, I can see germs and into the future. You have no idea the jokes I’ve heard in my lifetime. I also want to note this is the lowest it’s been in years.
What I’m Used To
I currently don’t need to see a specialist, so I go to the neighborhood Lens Crafters for my exams. However, about 9 years ago I got my first pair of adult glasses from LC and they cost me roughly $250. I thought surely things would have changed but I was wrong. It would cost me the EXACT same amount for a less strong script. Not a ton less but still. I’ll be honest, I’ve been saving for a car so I didn’t have the $250 to drop on glasses. Not when I already had a pair that was close enough to what I needed.
Affordable glasses were out of reach until someone at work suggested I look into Zenni Optical. I won’t lie, it took me quite a bit of effort to find a frame that could hold the script. Also, the initial frames I found on the Zenni Optical website wasn’t going to work. Zenni’s customer service team reached out to me to help find a solution. Easy peasy.
How Much I Paid
The price I ended up paying was a WHOPPING $94. Yeah that’s actually the price. If you’ve ever used Zenni Optical before this number may seem high to you but consider what I’m used to paying. Also consider that they still have to put a lot of work into making these glasses work with a frame. Also they’re lenses that change shade depending on the level of sunlight. So I’m calling this a win.
